In my superhero writings - at least for the last 6 years or so, magic and the supernatural are real, they simply aren't common knowledge.
I use it sparingly, otherwise it's just a Deus Ex Machina waiting to happen.
Sphinx has been in the minds of several supers, but until now he has never run across any actual magic and, like the general public, believes it to be a hoax, or stage magic or simple superstitions.
Of course, we already knew that, right?
